Job Designation

Set up and operate various shop equipment to modify firearms and fabricate parts from raw material according to blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.  Use standard good shop practices to maintain a safe working environment and ensure conformance of all parts to specifications. 

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate manual mills and lathes to modify firearms for conversion into training simulators
  • Use same equipment to fabricate parts from raw material
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Meet production standards for performance and quality
  • Comply with all departmental processes and procedures to include OSHA, ISO, EPA, and other corporate requirements as specified.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of vertical mills and engine lathes and safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools to verify drawing requirements
  • Must be able to communicate effectively through written, verbal, or electronic means.
  • Experience creating fixtures to hold irregular shapes
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work practices to correspond with varying lot sizes (1-300)
  • Must have basic measuring tools (0-1” +/-.0005”, 1”-12” +/-.0001”)
  • Must be able to work MON-THU 6AM-4:30PM
  • Must be able to work FRI-SUN when required (overtime hours TBD)
  • Must be able to stand for up to 2.5 hours at a time
  • Ability to move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Qualifications

Optional Skills

  • Experience operating EDM
  • Experience operating SWI “Proto-Trak” Controller (MX2, MX3)
  • Machine repair/maintenance
  • Welding/Brazing

Education: High School diploma or technical school degree
